If you do not arrive on time, your place may be given to someone else on the night. If you wish to have a bye at the start or end, please communicate this before the blitz.
Announcements will begin at approximatly 19:00 and the clock will start shortly after. Each round will follow shortly after the end of the previous round. There will be no break. There will be a prize giving ceramony at the end of the tournament.
All moves in 3 minutes, with 2 second increments from move 1.
Parking Parking is available locally, there are a small amount of spaces at the Church. Additionally, the University of Glasgow has an arrangement with the church so that church users can, in the evening, use the main carpark in the university grounds. The entrence is via the gate beside Kelvin Way, at the small roundabout where you turn up to University Avenue. If the barrier is down, press the button and say you are attending the Kevin West church. Cars exit onto Dumbarton Road. If neither are available, there is additional parking at the car park beside Kelvin Hall (~10 minute walk).
Underground This is a 5 minute walk from Hillhead subway station.
Chess Scotland (CS) Allegro Grading will be used. Where this is not available, CS Standard Grading will be used. For those without a CS grade, we will calculate an approximate CS grade where possible.
We appreciate there my be some anomalies. We will use gradings/ratings as we deem appropriate.
All players must have a FIDE Identification Number (FIN)*. Chess Scotland can register players who are eligible for a Scotland (SCO). Search the FIDE website .
The results of the FIDE-rated sections of this event will be submitted to FIDE, the world chess federation. Players in these sections need to be registered with FIDE to allow the results to be submitted.

*Which must be Licenced. Former FIDE Arena players who have not registered with their national federations may fall into this category. If this is the case, it is generally resolved quite quickly by your national federation. Please enquire if you are unsure of the registration rules before deciding to enter by contacting us using our contact form.
We encourage everyone to enter as soon as possible so everything can be checked and planned well before the tournament commences. We do have a late entry fee policy. One day before the Thursday, we add £5 to the entry fee. No discounts are available for on the day entry.
Refunds may be issued up to 24 hours before the quickplay happens, subject to a £3 administration fee.
